Steph Caller comes fourth in the World Wake Park Championship!

wakeinsideAnimal wake boarder Steph Caller is number four in the world after competing in the WWA Wake Park World Championships in the Philippines recently.

Competing in the Women’s Professional section, Steph was up againts some stiff competition including Maxine Sapulette (Netherlands), Raimi Merrit (USA), Kinga Horvath (Hungary) and a lot of other girls from arround the world, all at the top of their game. Steph headed out to the Philippines six weeks before the competition to train, working out a run before the event and practicing it ready for the heats.

Steph’s run in the final earned her number four in the world-starting with backside 180 off the first kicker, then gap to backflip on the A-frame, 270 frontboard on the box, a whole host of the other high scoring moves to end on a toeside 260 and a 540 off the last kicker which she didn’t quite land in an otherwise super stylish run. Maxine Sappulette from the Netherlands took pole position with a high scoring including a blind judge, s bend and a crow mobe off the kicker.

Steph said about coming fourth, “It feels pretty awesome to be fourth in the world, I’m now even more amped to learn more tricks and do better next year! Maxine’s run was amazing-in my opinion she is by far the best female cable wake boarder in the world and fully deserved her win.”

As well as training and riding at the park, Steph got to swim with whale sharks and also spent time playing games and doing crafts with children at local orphanages during her trip. Steph has just returned home but is hoping to make it to next WWA competition which is in Orlando, Florida in June.
